Selecting decoders for 2-channel
sources (surround decode mode)
Use this feature to play back sources with selected
decoders. You can play back 2-channel sources on multi-
channels.
Set the operation mode selector to
F
AMP and
then press
S
SUR. DECODE repeatedly on the
remote control to select the surround decode
mode.
You can select desired surround decoder modes depending
on the type of source you are playing and your personal
preference.

You can change the decoder parameter settings in “Stereo/
Surround” (page 70).
Decoder descriptions

When you select the surround decode mode for the multi-
channel digital sources, this unit automatically selects the
corresponding decoder for each source.
Selecting decoders used with MOVIE
sound field programs
You can select one of the following decoder types for use
with the MOVIE sound field programs (except “Mono
Movie”). For details about the MOVIE sound field
programs, see “For movie sources” (page 45). For details
on how to select the decoder type, see “Sound field
parameter descriptions” (page 71).

Dolby Pro Logic processing for any sources.
PLIIx Movie
PLII Movie
Dolby Pro Logic IIx (or Dolby Pro Logic II) processing for movie
sources. The Pro Logic IIx decoder is not available when
“Surround Back” (page 77) is set to “None” or using headphones.
PLIIx Music
PLII Music
Dolby Pro Logic IIx (or Dolby Pro Logic II) processing for music
sources. The Pro Logic IIx decoder is not available when
