5. Measure:

• brush length

Out of specification → Replace the brushes

as a set.

Brush length

10 mm

<Limit>: 3.5 mm

ASSEMBLING THE STARTER MOTOR

1. Install:

• Washer

• Brush

• Brush seat

NOTE:

Align the tab on the brush seat with the slot in the

starter motor rear cover.

2. Install:

• Armature assembly

• Stator assembly

• starter motor front cover

• starter motor rear cover

NOTE:

Align the match marks

on the starter motor

yoke with the match marks

on the front and

starter motor rear covers.

6. Measure:

• brush spring force

Out of specification → Replace the brush

springs as a set.

Brush spring force

5.6 ~ 8.3 N

7. Check:

• gear teeth

Damage/wear → Replace the gear.

8. Check:

• bearing

• oil seal

Damage/wear → Replace the defective part(-s).
