About heart rate reserve
Heart rate reserve (HRR) is a term used to describe the difference
between a person’s resting heart rate (HR
rest
) and maximum heart rate
(HR
max
). The formula is:
HRR = HR
max
– HR
rest
The BF-11 actually measures and calculates the percentage of heart
rate reserve (%HRR) and uses this as a measurement of exercise
intensity.
By using %HRR as the exercise intensity, the optimal heart rate (HR) in
exercising is calculated. The formula is:
HR = HRR x %HRR + HR
rest
For example, if your HR
max
is 180 bpm, HR
rest
is 60 bpm and target
%HRR is 70%, the HR is calculated as:
HR = (180 – 60) x 0.7 + 60 = 144
After the Interval and Target setting is finished, the following display appears.
n
When you select “Tempo” for the Target, “T” is appended to the value. When you select “HR” for
the Target, “H” is appended to the value. (For example, “01.0mi-T170bpm” stands for “one mile
at a tempo of 170 bpm.”)
3 Set the desired values for Interval and Target, and then
simultaneously press the / (Up/Down) buttons to actually enter
them for the segment.
The segment is entered and operation returns to the previous display.
4 Select “Add Segment” to enter the next segment.
5 Repeat steps 3 and 4 above as needed to create all the desired
segments for your program.
6 After you’ve created all the segments for the program, select “OK”
in the display.
The Select Music display appears.
n
When there are no Playlists or the Music Priority parameter (page 61) is set to “BODiBEAT
Songs,” the Music Select display is not displayed. Skip to step 8.
