MARK IV SERIES FULL-FUNCTION GRANDS
Minnesota International Piano-e-Competition
Breaking New Ground with Yamaha
Imagine a top-level classical piano competition where the performers, the judges,
the audience, the pianos played, and the pianos heard are all in different corners
of the globe. This happens every other year at the Minnesota International Piano-
e-Competition. This groundbreaking event, first held in June 2002, wouldn’t be
possible without the state-of-the-art technology found only on Yamaha Disklavier
pianos.
Contestants gather in selected cities to perform on Yamaha CFIIIS concert grands
equipped as Disklavier PROs. Their performance data is transmitted over the Internet,
allowing judges and audiences at each competition site to listen to all the
performances played on actual acoustic pianos set up on stage and to watch the
competition on stage monitors.
To play back performances from the competition on their own acoustic pianos
and watch them on monitors in the comfort of their own homes, Disklavier owners
around the world can download the latest performances from the competition
Web site (www.piano-e-competition.com).
PianoSmart
Video Synchronization
Knowing that some musical experiences engage more than just the ears, Yamaha
added visual accompaniment to the Disklavier Mark IV’s already-amazing acoustic/
digital repertoire. PianoSmart™ Video Synchronization allows parents to enjoy
over and over again the sounds and sights of their child’s first piano recital through
acoustic playback on the Mark IV piano and video playback on a standard TV
monitor—at the same time! And aspiring musicians can use this simultaneous listen-
and-look playback as a useful training tool, simply by connecting the audio jacks
of a standard video camcorder to the SYNC jacks of the Mark IV’s Input/Output
(I/O) Center.

PianoSoft
Plus Graphics
While the Disklavier Mark IV is known for appeasing the ears, with PianoSoft
Plus
Graphics, it can also appeal to the eyes. Images corresponding to tunes being
played on the Disklavier piano can be displayed on any available monitor, providing
visual accompaniment to your musical moments.
