When the unit is connected to the computer, the unit does not display the
“Connected” icon.
Possible cause
The unit is not connected to the computer correctly.
Corrective action
In some cases, the unit may not display the “Connected” icon or may not
be recognized when it is connected to a computer. Disconnect the unit
from the computer, then reconnect it.
The recorded audio sounds noisy.
Possible cause
Wind noise has been recorded.
Corrective action
The built-in stereo microphone is highly sensitive. Therefore, a slight
breeze or breath — even a weak air conditioning breeze that hits the
microphones directly — will be recorded as noise. To reduce the level of
wind and other environmental noise:
Use the recorder with the wind screen (protection against wind and
sibilance) attached to the built-in stereo microphones.
Turn on the High Pass Filter via menu item [HPF] (see page 21).
Set the [MIC SENS] (microphone sensitivity) switch to [LOW].
Possible cause
The battery is exhausted.
Corrective action
Replace the battery.
The recorded sound is distorted.
Possible cause
The microphone sensitivity level may not be appropriately set.
Corrective action
Set the [MIC SENS] (microphone sensitivity) switch to [LOW]. If you still
hear distortion, set the High Pass Filter to ON and attach the
windscreen to the recorder (see page 21).
If the ALC function is turned off, set the recording peak limiter to ON
(see page 21).
The recorded sound skips.
Possible cause
The microSD card was formatted not on the recorder, but on a
computer or other device.
The microSD card may be fragmented significantly.
Corrective action
Use the recorder to format the microSD card (see page 53).
Possible cause
You are using a microSD card that is not recommended by Yamaha.
Corrective action
Use a microSD card that is recommended by Yamaha (refer to the Owner’s
Manual).
